About Me

I am an Associate Professor and Director of the Prairie View A & M University School of Architecture CURES Center (Community Urban & Rural Enhancement Service).

It is an honor to be part of the archive and preservation effort of the African Slave Cottages in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Our work involves performing 3D laser scans of the remaining eight cottages (originally twenty-four) as a means to accurately reconstruct as-built drawing plans, sections and elevations of the original design. Our digital and analog work extends this sacred African Slave space into the realm of permanence and creates a timeless historic memorium.

We are also grateful and thankful to all those who assisted in completing this project, especially Sarah Jackson who initiated the project and the excellent work performed by our students; Ernesto Alviso, Nancy Guerrero, Yessenia, Davila, Rodrigo Salvador, Juan Rojas, Armony Panighello, Chelsea Chavez, Noah Garza-Pate, Jovany De Los Santos: IT staff, Pankaj Chhetri, and Yunsik Song, and videographer, Paras Bhatt. We look forward to working with RNIDH in the future.
